Look out your window; do you see a bird or a flower? If you can't see them from your window, go someplace where you can see them. In some places, such as a park or a zoo, you can see birds and flowers in the same place. Places where you can see a lot of birds are called Apiary. You can see many pretty flowers and other plants at a park or Botanical Garden
Let's talk about the birds first: Do you see them flying back and forth? Or walking around and pecking at the ground? Aren't they pretty with all those colorful feathers and their sleek bodies? Our Heavenly Father made them that way, and gave them the seeds and bugs to eat, and feathers that shed water so they won't get wet when it rains. Look closely; do they look worried about the seeds running out? Are they holding up signs saying: "We need more bugs!"?
What about the flowers? They are very pretty too, aren't they? Do they look like they are worried about the next rain shower, or if the sun will shine tomorrow?
Do you know why the birds and the flowers don't have to worry about anything? It is because our Heavenly Father takes care of them all the time, every day, rain or shine.
Jesus told a story about the flowers and birds to show us how we should trust our Heavenly Father just like the birds and flowers do. They do not have to go to work, and they do not have to save anything in the bank; they trust our Heavenly Father to provide for them each and every day.
In this story, Jesus pointed out that even though birds and flowers do not wear clothes, or have houses, they are more pretty and better protected than even rich kings in their fancy robes and big houses. He told us that our Heavenly Father knows every flower and every bird, and watches over each and every one of them. But He also said that we are much more important to HIM than any bird or any flower, so we should be even more sure that HE will protect us every day.
